CLIMATE: The climate of Mirik is very pleasant and the temperature rarely crosses 30 degrees during the summers. But the winters are very cold. Accommodation in Mirik is good and cheap with hotels concentrated near the Mirik lake. EXCURSION: A treat for the nature lover Mirik provides many picnic spots. Attractions and Places to Visit in Mirik
Sumendu Lake: This man made lake is the major attraction in Mirik. The Sumendu Lake is wrapped in forested ridge and a flower garden and has a floating fountain in its center. The Sumendu Lake is ideal for boating, while watching Kanchanjunga top. Singha Devi Temple: The temple of Singha Devi (Devi Sthan) is situated near the Sumendu lake. The temple is visited by most of the tourists. Dudia: A very famous picnic spot, Dudia is located 30 Km from Mirik. It is famous for the natural beauty which surrounds it.
How to Reach Mirik
Air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra, 55 km away. Rail: The nearest railheads are New Jalpaiguri at 60 km and Siliguri at 52 km. Road: Mirik os connected to Siliguri, Kurseong and Darjeeling by roads. Government and private bus services link Mirik with Siliguri and Darjeeling.
